Canuckle heads

Well it’s official. The Canucks have signed Mats Sundin to a one year contract. In reality, it’s a 6 month contract, for approximately 5.6 million.

But it’s not about the money.

Yeah. Right.

It’s such a shame that this had to happen the day after they retired Trevor Linden’s #16 with such a nice ceremony.

Now we just have to wait and see if they take the “C” away from Luongo and strip Brown of his #13.

I really hope they don’t do either of these things, but they likely will.

This is the biggest bonehead move they’ve made since signing Messier.

*sigh*

As you might guess from the title of this post, I’m not feeling terribly Christmasy.

I’d say I won’t bore you with the details, but then there wouldn’t be a post, so too bad for you!

Christmas is always a bunch of work, but usually it’s also a lot of fun as well. This year has been pretty much all about the stress. I don’t know why. I planned well and had all my shopping done by the start of December. I had most of the knitting done by the first week. It went pretty much according to plan except for the following bumps:

The furnace has decided it can’t be fixed. It decided this during a cold snap that is the worst we’ve seen here in 18 years. The guy comes on Thursday to replace it. This is not going to be cheap.

Speaking of Thursday, that’s the day that the monkey leaves for Saskatoon until late Christmas eve. He’s going to have Christmas with his family while I stay here. Alone. Looking after Satan’s Hand Puppet (who’s doing much better and is therefore evil again). Celebrating my birthday. Did I mention I’d be alone? There is much sucking up to be done over this. Much sucking up.

It’s been a busy month too. I’ve been taking classes and teaching classes. Both of which involve a fair bit of driving on not so good surfaces.

Enough bitching. I’ve got pictures!

I’ve been spinning some of my presents:

Spike decided he really liked this roving and carefully spread it out enough so that he could snuggle in it. I’m lucky he’s so careful. Hate to think of the havoc he could do if decided to just randomly frolic in fibre. I’d be so screwed. This will be a 3-ply sock yarn, not saying who it’s for.

This is most of the pile of presents that we shipped out this year:

Good thing I’d set some money aside for postage! It was a lot of stuff and I think most of it has already arrived. If you haven’t got yours yet, don’t worry, it’s on it’s way. Feel free to do the parcel dance every day at your appointed mail time until arrives.

Because Satan’s Hand Puppet likes to see what in the house is tasty, other than kibble, we decided that it would be unwise this year to put up a full sized tree. He’d eat ornaments, tree and presents. So we did this:

It’s small, but it works and hopefully we can have a normal tree next year.

So Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Joyous Pagan Ritual to all of you.

And I’m sorry Dad, I promise to post more next year.
